The Erasmus+ project SELF – Solo Entrepreneurs Learning Framework, co-funded by the European Union, is pleased to announce the launch of Work Package 2 (WP2), dedicated to the mapping and analysis of emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities related to solo entrepreneurship and self-employment across Europe.

WP2 represents one of the foundational phases of the SELF project and aims to provide the analytical and pedagogical basis for the future development of the project’s educational resources, training framework, and entrepreneurial learning tools.

Through this work package, the international SELF consortium will carry out a comprehensive assessment focused on:

• solo-entrepreneurship trends; 
• self-employment dynamics; 
• entrepreneurial competences; 
• existing educational opportunities; 
• and innovative practices supporting young aspiring entrepreneurs and Higher Education students. 

Particular attention will be given to the collection and analysis of:

• case studies; 
• good practices; 
• labour market trends; 
• educational gaps; 
• and emerging competences connected to independent professional pathways and digital entrepreneurship. 

The objective of this analytical phase is not only to better understand the current European entrepreneurial landscape, but also to identify practical insights capable of supporting the creation of more accessible, relevant, and future-oriented entrepreneurial learning opportunities.

To ensure consistency and comparability of results, project partners have collaboratively developed a common assessment methodology that will guide the implementation of research and mapping activities at both national and transnational level.

This shared methodological framework contributes to:

• harmonising data collection processes; 
• facilitating cross-country comparison of findings; 
• identifying common European trends; 
• and strengthening the overall quality and reliability of the assessment process. 

The findings generated through WP2 will directly support the next stages of the project, particularly the development of the SELF training framework and multilingual educational resources that will later be made available through the project platform.

The consortium expects that this analytical work will contribute to a deeper understanding of:

• the evolving realities of self-employment in Europe; 
• the educational needs of aspiring solo entrepreneurs; 
• and the role that Higher Education institutions can play in fostering entrepreneurial initiative and future employability pathways. 

In line with the dissemination and accessibility principles promoted throughout the project, the results and outputs generated within WP2 will progressively be made available:

• in open-access format; 
• free of charge; 
• and through accessible digital dissemination channels.
